Watering Timeline

For the first 2-3 days that your plant is in the ground, you'll want to water it daily for 1-3 minutes per plant. During very hot and dry spans, you may need to go back to watering your plants daily even if they’ve been in the ground for weeks or months.

For the first several weeks that your plant is in the ground, you'll want to water every 2-5 days (2-3 times per week) and water for 1-3 minutes per plant.

After the first month you can typically drop down to watering every 3-7 days (once or twice per week), still for 1-3 minutes per plant.

Late in the year and in the second year after planting, plan on watering roughly every 5-7 (about once per week) days.

It's important to keep this schedule up through the time your plant is getting established (typically 1 year for vines, bulbs, and groundcovers).

Winter Watering - This group of plants is typically better off without winter watering, but there may be exceptions for some vines and groundcovers that can hold their foliage year-round, or if there is a particularly warm span and you notice new growth.
